Our Story – The Zipyard
The ZipYard is the UK’s most successful and fastest growing garment alteration franchise in the UK. Established in Ireland since 2005 ZipYard centres are now springing up on High Streets across England, Scotland and Wales.
The highly visible centres, branded in ZipYard’s yellow and black corporate colours, offer a full range of clothing repair and tailoring services, including bridal wear and formal wear fitting and a 1-Hour Express Service for zips, hems and minor repairs.
All our Centres are finished to the highest standards and include ‘state of the art’ machinery, external and internal signage, fittings rooms, counter, flooring, fixtures and fittings, computer systems, and in most cases seamstresses work in full view of the public.
Our Franchise Package
Our franchisees are trained and supported in the set-up and on-going development of their own franchise. Franchisees launch a retail shop from which they provide high-quality customer service and manage staff who would undertake the clothing alterations or repairs.
How much does a The ZipYard franchise cost?
There is a one off licence cost of £15,000 and a training and project management fee of £5,000 which includes two weeks training, assistance with staff recruitment, project management of the shop fit and your marketing launch programme.
£18,500 covers all your equipment, the computer system, pre-start merchandising, marketing collateral and opening stock.
Total cost is approximately £38,500 + shop fit + VAT
As part of your investment, your receive the full backing, training and support of a management which over 70 years combined experience in franchising and are specialists in their business fields.

Although this is your business and you will make the major decisions in your business, you are not on your own.
We are always on hand with help, advice, marketing support, on-going training, product development and much more.
To ensure you are up-to-date with best practices and all necessary information, we have Network Meetings throughout the year adding new marketing collateral to the ‘bank’.
All Franchise Owners undergo a two week comprehensive induction programme, covering business practices, computer systems, running a centre, marketing and promotions, recruitment, counter sales etc.
Training is part classroom based (at Head Office) and part in-centre – for true hands on experience.

What will I Receive from my Investment?
You are partnering with a successful company with a proven business model in a growing sector. You will enjoy being your own boss yet you will have all the support of The ZipYard Management Team.
You do not need to have a background in the garment alterations industry as full training will be provided. Furthermore, we will assist with finding the right premises in the best location, and recruiting and training staff.
Our business ethos is based on the principles of excellent and responsive customer service, speedy turn around, quality materials and staff loyalty augmented by efficient and proven business systems, marketing and promotional collateral and on-going in-centre support from the whole ZipYard team.
Are we the right fit?
We would expect a new Franchise Owner to at least meet – if not surpass – our benchmark of £100,000 turnover in their first year.
We look for Franchise Owners who will be as dedicated, passionate, focused and hard working as we are. You do not need to be familiar with repairs or alterations and we’re not looking for tailors, dress makers or seamstresses – but rather Business Owners.
Successful Franchise Owners will be ambitious to run their own business, customer driven, well organised and keen to follow a proven business system.
