We’re specialists in helping families have fun!
Raring2go! is a leading source of information for families. We are known as the definitive guide for interesting, educational and fun activities for families who have or who are looking after children up to the age of 11.
Raring2go! is a vibrant and punchy quarterly magazine supported online by an equally colourful and fully loaded website. Our magazines are full of great features, articles, interviews and of course, paid for advertising from local businesses with a family audience. So too is our dynamic and continuously updated website.
A little of the magazine content is National but mostly it is intensely local and hyper relevant to local families. That’s why we are so popular with our readers and advertisers alike. We deliver strong messages to our engaged audience effectively across print, web and social.
Raring2go! is a member of the British Franchise Association and EWIF (Encouraging Women Into Franchising). There are presently over 50 established franchisees already operating across the UK in clearly defined exclusive territories. We want to add more editions and that’s where we hope you come in.
Raring2go! – The business
Our franchisee is the ‘editor’ of their own magazine and website. They are 100% responsible for all aspects of their business. They populate their magazines and websites with topical, local and relevant information, features and advertisements. They secure local advertising content by building strong and lasting relationships in their local area with businesses, schools, leisure facilities and visitor attractions. They stamp their magazines and websites with their own unique style contributing content and personality to each medium in equal measure.
Raring2go! competes and enjoys notable success in a busy and crowded sector; we distinguish ourselves in offering our advertisers a valid, relevant and effective print, online and social media channel to consumers. We use technology extensively to equip our editors with the right tools for the job and ongoing training and endless support to help them succeed in their business.
As a Raring2go! editor you will join a tight knit network of magazine and website editors who work for themselves but not by themselves. Whilst that might sound like a terrible cliché, it’s not. Our editors join forces and collaborate with one another both locally and regionally. We have a buddy / mentoring programme and pair new incoming editors with seasoned ones right from the word go. There is nothing like peer to peer support.
We have a national council of editors – other franchisees – who are involved in nearly all aspects of shaping the growth, development and success of our business. We partner our franchisees in their businesses and on our journey together and we have a lot of fun along the way too.

Penny Beddows, from Sutton Coldfield, was a sales rep for Autotrader and struggling to balance her work life with her family life. Then she got the news everyone dreads – she was being made redundant. However, her bad news quickly turned into the best thing that could have happened as she took ownership of the Sutton Coldfield franchise of Raring2go!.
Raring2go! is a high quality quarterly A5 magazine which provides parents and carers of primary school children with a definitive hyper local guide of what to do and where to go. Each edition is packed full of family friendly editorial, event listings, celebrity features as well as highly relevant advertising. This advertising is aimed at informing parents of the wide range of activities available to them both on their own doorstep and much further afield.
Penny took over her Raring2go! franchise in the spring of 2013 and has not looked back since. She is now much happier in both her work and family life and really enjoying providing her local community with a great service. Penny explains: “When I was made redundant it was obviously bad news, but I already had an idea that I wanted to become a Raring2go! editor as I used to work with Trish, the Raring2go! operations manager, before she moved jobs. She had told me there was no magazine in the Sutton Coldfield area and was pushing me to give it a go.
“It really appealed to me as I have always worked in sales so I knew I could make that side of the job work, and also it would allow me to have much more flexibility so I can spend more time with my two children, for example I can now work from home in the school holidays.
“So far it could not have gone much better, profit levels are great and I am getting new customers coming on board all the time. I have advertisers who have been with me since I started and quite a few on annual deals. Also there are new businesses launching in the local area all the time that are keen for exposure, so the sales side of things is going great. It’s also nice thinking you are giving the local family community a service they can really benefit from, everyone I speak to is so positive and responsive about it, I know if I wasn’t editing the magazine I would be using it to see what is going on for my kids.
“The training and on-going support has been excellent, I am lucky as I already knew Trish who did all my training and I actually share an office with her now so the on-going support could not be better for me. I would definitely recommend a Raring2go! Franchise to anyone who is considering it, it’s the best decision I have ever made. It gives you so much flexibility to work around your family life, and is also very rewarding both financially and personally, so I really can’t recommend it enough.”
Penny Beddows – Raring2Go! Sutton Coldfield
Raring2go! is tailor made for bright and ambitious candidates who are prepared to work hard to build a business and become a recognized and respected community resource. It offers a great degree of flexibility and with that a significant shift in the much sought after work / life balance.
